About Claire Ashford
Claire Ashford came to iGaming from public health communications — a background that fundamentally shapes how she approaches casino content. Where most reviewers treat responsible gambling as a section to be filed, Claire treats it as one of the most meaningful indicators of whether an operator genuinely respects its players or is simply performing compliance.
She spent the earlier part of her career developing public-facing health communications and educational materials, including contract work supporting responsible gambling awareness programs for gaming-adjacent organizations in Ontario. That work gave her a detailed understanding of how gambling-related harm develops, what early intervention looks like, and crucially — what separates responsible gambling tools that actually help players from those that technically exist but are designed to be ignored.
Based in Hamilton, Claire follows the Ontario regulatory landscape closely, with particular attention to AGCO’s responsible gambling requirements for iGaming Ontario licensed operators and how those standards compare in practice to what players actually encounter when they try to set a deposit limit or request a self-exclusion.
At canacasino.com, she covers responsible gambling sections in casino reviews, standalone RG guides, and content about Canadian player protection resources. She also reviews operator compliance with AGCO advertising standards around responsible gambling messaging.
She doesn’t moralize. She documents.
